Amir Cup Final 2020 makes an impression with Modulo Kinetic
In December 2020, the Amir Cup Final 2020 and inauguration of Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium were celebrated with a spectacular ceremony. A light and sound show relied on 20 video-projectors powered by the Modulo Kinetic media server by Modulo Pi.
Qatar Vision was entrusted with the ceremonies for the Amir Cup Final 2020 and inauguration of Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar. Inspired from the Arabic Poetry, the impressive show was imagined and produced by Sharif Hashisho, Artistic Director and Managing Director of Qatar Vision, while images were created by Maxin10sity.
French AV provider VLS managed the video-projection for the ceremonies. The setup included 20 x Christie Boxer of 30,000 lumens. Installed as 2 lines of 5 dual stacks, the video-projectors were fed by the Modulo Kinetic media server by Modulo Pi. The kit consisted in 1 x Modulo Kinetic Designer workstation, and 3 x V-Node servers equipped with 6 outputs.
To achieve a seamless projection of 106m x 65m on the stadium playground, teams of VLS worked with Modulo Kinetic and its embedded 3D engine. The 3D mapping alignment in Modulo Kinetic allowed to easily handle the soft edge blending of the stacked video-projectors. A virtual projector was added in Modulo Kinetic Designer based on the main grandstand point of view. Then, 10 virtual cameras were placed next to the stacked projectors in the 3D scene.
Through this simulation of the projection in Modulo Kinetic’s 3D environment, edge blending for the 20 video-projectors was automatically calculated, allowing a substantial gain of time.
Amir Cup Final 2020 and inauguration of Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium took place in front of a limited audience. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and safety protocols, the stadium designed for the 2022 FIFA World Cup could host 50% of its capacity.
